Working on research done by Cochrane in the last year, Twist Marketing is charged with identifying the community’s values and vision and then developing a visual way to represent them, explained Laurie Druckier, communications coordinator for the town, located 60 km. west of Calgary.

“We are trying hard to reassure people that this is about more than just a logo and a fancy slogan. It’s about finding a meaningful way to reflect our community vision and values.” The brand visuals will then be used in tourism and economic development materials and as an internal community identity.

Twist Marketing will conduct one-to-one interviews with prominent citizens, plus work with a steering committee to develop the branding. The agency will present a strategy and community values statement for approval by the end of July, with visual supporting materials to be completed by September.

Druckier said the town chose Twist Marketing because it has done “fabulous” branding work for a number of other smaller communities in Alberta and B.C.
